Plate 011 Killdeer - Aegialitis vocifera - 1. Male ; 2. Female. - A very nice original antique chromolithographed print, after the original Audubon plate. Bright colors and nice detail. These were printed on a smaller scale (appx. 6" x 9 3/8") than the Audubon and are thus not considered original Audubons despite the faithfulness of the lithography, but are very nice nonetheless. These were taken from a very broken book which was not worth restoring. Generally, I discourage taking plates from a book and prefer to preserve the intact work, but when it is already so damaged there is often little other choice. Higher detailed scans available on request. Condition: Prints themselves generally free from flaws and marks. Any exceptions will be noted. Edges with some creases, small tears and wear. Very suitable for framing as edge flaws can usually be covered up by matting. Paper with minor aging and general light smudging overall to this set, but color still clear and attractive. Please see image and ask for more if needed.
